I’d Do The Stars With You, Anytime

When I was about 24 and my then-long term boyfriend and I were breaking up, he said something to me that has always stuck with me. He told me that if he was no longer contributing to my happiness he wouldn’t fight the break up because he wanted my happiness more than anything. That he would love me enough to let me go.

It wasn’t angry or mean or passive aggressive. He honestly and truly loved me that much. I never understood that kind of love.

Until now.

“But I can’t do the talk like they talk on my tv screen/I can’t do a love song, not the way you sung them to me/I can’t do anything but I would do anything for you/Oh no I can’t do anything except be in love with you…” -Romeo & Juliet, Indigo Girls
