Bird lands today.

birdandmeNo, that isn’t secret agent code. My friend Bird is coming for a quick visit. She’s got a bit of a whacky schedule being an EMT so we’re going to pack a lot of fun in tonight and tomorrow before she jets back to California on Wednesday morning. When I saw her in The Cruz a couple weeks ago she mentioned that she’s been working out every day and would like to find ways to exercise while she is visiting me. Always the gracious host, I agreed. Especially since we’re talking about going swimming tonight (Yay swimming!) and kayaking tomorrow (Yay kayaking! Please don’t let me fall in the water!). I’m actually grateful for the kick in the ass because I’ve been lazy since I got back from vacation. It’s hard to work out when you are napping all the time.

My friends here wonder what my secret is. They inquire, “You always have people visiting you. How do you get them to come up?” Um. . .I dunno. I think they like me or something? In the one year I’ve lived here everyone from my inner circle has visited. And the summer visits are just kicking off. Supple and Marnacakes will be here at the end of the month and Dumpling and his girlfriend are visiting in September. It must be the little chocolates I leave on their pillows or the yummy breakfasts I whip up that has them booking stays at The Hotel d’Sizz. And yeah, it helps that I live in one of the most awesomest cities.

Please call for reservations in advance as this is a popular destination location and we fill up quickly, particularly during July through October. Rates subject to change much like the weather. All major credit cards are accepted except Citibank Visa.

“Maybe I’m just the horizon you run to/when she has left/you and me here/alone on the floor/you’re counting my feathers/as the bells toll/you see the bow and the belt/and the girl from the south/all favorites of mine/you know them all well/and spring brings fresh little puddles/that makes it all clear/makes it all…/hey, do you know/hey, do you know/what this is doing to me?/oh, here…/here…/here. in my head” – Here In My Head, Tori Amos

  6. I totally want to come and stay. I’ll even help you make brekkie.

  7. Man, I want to visit. Every time you talk about Seattle it makes me miss it more.

  8. Ooo, that did sound like secret agent code! And why isn’t there a Napping To The Oldies workout video?

  9. Are you open to the idea of bartering?

  10. How fun. And we had a revolving door the 1st few years we lived in Denver. It was so fun. It slowed down once everyone started having kids, though. Those lazy bastards. ;)

  11. it’s good that you know that your future plan is… you will be able to run a bed and breakfast once you are done w/ the whole “save the world” non-profit thing…. you better start looking for and saving up for the perfect old large home in tht wonderful city to purchase to run it in

  12. I would actually love to come visit. So be careful what you offer here.

  13. if any of you are ever here, i would hope you would tell me so we could meet up! and i would totally find out you visited on your blog so don’t even try to lie. ;)

  14. I think it’s you b/c no one has come to visit me yet:(

  15. Dumpling has a girlfriend? My heart is broken. He such a cutie. Is it okay to hate her?

I know I’m married. I’m not dead. Just married. I can lust, right?

But now, he’s got a girlfriend.

    Heartbroken.

    Shattered.

  16. I need to get my friends up here. I suppose I’ll invest in some chocolates.

  17. “i would totally find out you visited on your blog so don’t lie”

    HAHAHHAHAH …

  18. I think a kick ass location totally helps the cause. This is why I am afraid to leave Miami and move to BFE USA. No one will visit me!

  19. You are so lucky to have so many friends that want to come and visit. Although I can’t blame them, we do live in a fantastic corner of the country.

  20. Sign me up!! Chocolates on the pillows, wow…

    Have a blast with Bird.
